Poetry: “Sillage”

Black-footed albatross
Cruises above the soughing surf —
The sounds to accompany
A sky-walking search —
To acquire sufficient nourishment
To satisfy goliath nestlings.

Earth-shackled passersby
Perk their ears
At the eerie cries
The Polynesia-bound bird
Leaves behind.

Sequacious types
Envy the eeesome flight,
And stare into the stars
To synthesize phosphenes.

Free-thinkers scent the sillage
Of a relentless pilgrimage
And relocate their focus
To the benthic blues
Of cerulean sea;

Remember how to swim.
